29 Ekim Resepsiyonu Konuşması, Duşanbe

Büyükelçi Ali Rifat Köksal 29.10.2018
His Excellency Sirojidin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Members of the Parliament, Representatives of the Administration, International and National Organizations, Diplomatic Corp and Press,
Distinguished Guests, Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is a great pleasure to welcome you all.

This beautiful evening, we are celebrating the ninetyfifth anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Turkey. My wife and I, would like to express our sincere thanks for your gracious presence. I convey my warmest greetings and very best wishes to all Turks residing in Tajikistan.

On this historic and a glorious day, I would like to pay tribute to the founder of the Republic, the great reformer, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

We live in an age of rapid changes and uncertainties. Thus, our policies need to be able adopt to constant change and help shape the dynamics around us in the direction of peace, prosperity and stability. Humans are at the core of our activities and foreign policy needs foresight and action. It needs initiative. That is why Turkey takes initiatives with an “enterprising and humanitarian foreign policy” approach, in the words of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

It should be noted that Turkey hosts the largest refugee population, and did not leave innocent people to the hands of a brutal regime or terrorist organizations such as DEASH, PKK/PYD/YPG, but the humanitarian crisis in Syria has been left to Turkey’s shoulders, and that the international community needs to strengthen responsibility sharing.

Turkey’s humanitarian assistance has been diversified and significantly increased in recent years. In 2017, according to the Global Humanitarian Assistance Report, Turkey ranks as the largest donor country world-wide with its 8 billion US Dollars humanitarian assistance.

Turkey also ranks first when the ratio of official humanitarian assistance to national income is taken into consideration.

Photos exhibited at the entrance of this ballroom are just to give an idea of our efforts.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Our historical and cultural bonds and sincere mutual feelings among Tajik and Turkish people constitute the basis of our friendly relations. Turkey and Tajikistan also enjoy solidarity and close cooperation at international fora. Today, the two countries are determined to further strengthen cooperation in every field.

Turkey ranks among the first four trade partners with Tajikistan and early figures indicate that there will be around 20 percent increase this year in bilateral trade volume. Just only in last 9 years, our companies invested in different areas totaling more than 170 Million US Dollars. We rank fifth in investments. Coca Cola Tajikistan Company and Akia Vehicle Assembly plants are examples to our investments.

Moreover, Turkish construction companies has secured more than 600 Million US Dollars worth of contracts in Tajikistan so far. Any project aims to increase the quality of life, we will be there.

Of course, we are not completely satisfied with these numbers as they do not reflect the real potential. In that regard, increasing investment and bilateral trade volume is our priority.

Dear Friends,

Wishing you a nice evening, once again, my wife and I thank you all, sharing our joy today. I would also like to thank Hyatt Regency, Merve Restaurant and Coca Cola management and staff, for their efforts and support.

Now please allow me to invite Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sirojiddin Muhriddin to deliver His speech.
